Updated CP2102 breakout with USB C
The CP2102 Serial UART will be no stranger to many readers and it’s widely available in a standard USB A breakout form factor. Now it’s available with USB-C.
The CP2102 has built in support on Linux systems and has good driver availability for other operating systems. Unlike many USB-A CP2102 modules this board from Solder Party breaks out the majority of the pins rather than just the commonly used ones. The signal pins are 5V tolerant and so the board is capable of working at 5V or 3.3V. It also features LED’s on the RX and TX pins which will flicker when data is moving through them at up to 1Mbaud rate.
Speaking of the RX/TX pins, we love that Solder Party have labelled the silkscreen with arrows indicating the direction of data flow on them. Perhaps this is the one board where we can connect them the right way around on the first attempt!
