The Palms in Burleigh Heads is back on the market after three months

13 Deodar Drive, Burleigh Heads, is back on the market.

It’s back. The Burleigh Heads house that was so popular it almost “broke the internet” is on the market again and the owners want $240,000 more than they paid for it three months ago, as house price growth soars.

The house was the most photographed in Queensland.

Known as The Palms, the new-build’s progress was closely followed on Instagram by home renovators, influencers and buyers who fell in love with its Palm Springs-inspired look.

Styled by Kirra and Kirra, it became Queensland’s most photographed home and more than 500 people packed into the property at 13 Deodar Drive on May 29 to see it go under the hammer.

It sold for $3.75 million – a record price for a single block west of the Gold Coast Highway in Burleigh – to Jeremy Langston and settled on August 19.

After living in it for little more than a month, the local family has now put it back on the market for offers of more than $3.99 million.

People loved its Palm Springs-inspired look.

Little is known about why it has been such a short-lived stay for the Langstons, with marketing agent Ed Cherry of Harcourts Coastal, who is again co-marketing the property with Conal Martin of Kingfisher Realty, saying they had simply cited “family commitments”.

Despite hitting the market only 24 hours ago, Mr Cherry said he had been inundated with phone calls from agents, repeat clients and new buyers, and achieving the asking price would not be a problem.

“We have already had an offer,” Mr Cherry said. “I think Burleigh has proven that properties can achieve that kind of house price growth,” he said.

“You wouldn’t be able to replicate it for every house in the suburb, but one that is this high profile, with such an established following, can easily reach that goal.

“People aren’t out there to get a bargain anymore, they’re out there to secure a long-term relationship with the Gold Coast, especially Burleigh, and they know how hard it is to get a foot into the market.

“It will only take a week or two and the record house price will be broken again. It happened in Currumbin with Darwallah and it will happen here too. For interstate buyers, Burleigh is the hottest suburb on the Gold Coast.”

500 people attended the auction.

One thing is certain all eyes are back on the four-bedroom home which is on a 539sq m block less than 100m from Burleigh’s famed surf beach, boutiques and cafes.

Designed around a central hub, it comprises an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area that flows on to an outside entertaining area, which has a sunken fireplace, glass-edged pool and outdoor kitchen.

It was previously sold fully furnished, with high-quality finishes including Italian terrazzo tiles, feature stone walls, Harbour American oak flooring and custom brass fittings.

It is a statement property.

The original owner-designer was JSW Landscape and Design founder Jay Walker and his wife Emma, who have two children. It was built to be their forever home but they decided to sell after being enticed by another local design project.

Mr Cherry said the previous level of interest and the intense level of inquiries this time around means that the property will only be open to private inspections.

“People will be disappointed that we are not opening it back up, but we didn’t want to get the influx of 200 people to an open home like we did last time. We want to keep it to qualified buyers this time around,” he said.
