Super Bowl odds 2022: Chiefs, Buccaneers could meet for rematch in Super Bowl 56

The road to Super Bowl 56 might run through Kansas City or Tampa Bay — again.

While the Buccaneers handed the Chiefs a devastating 31-9 Super Bowl 55 loss, the two squads could have a future in Super Bowl 56, if oddsmakers are to be believed.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs open with the best odds to win next year’s Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., a year after they went 14-2 and were crowned AFC champions. The Chiefs were stunned by the Buccaneers and Tom Brady in Super Bowl 55 on Sunday night, but that loss doesn’t seem to affect future championship expectations.

The Chiefs were down some key pieces in their Super Bowl loss, namely in starting tackles Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher. The Bucs’ pass rush wreaked havoc all night, forcing Mahomes into a pedestrian performance, while Tampa Bay capitalized on the Chiefs’ non-starter offense and played a flawless game from start to finish.

Assuming both squads get back to full strength, it’s easy to see why both are favorites once again, even though it’s early.

Super Bowl 2022 odds

As it stands, the Chiefs opened up as +550 to win Super Bowl 56, even after the brutal blowout loss in Super Bowl 55.

Kansas City’s odds are the best among all 32 NFL teams, with the Buccaneers and Packers tied at +900, meaning a rematch could happen in Super Bowl 56. The Packers were upended by Brady and the Bucs in the NFC championship game, 31-26.

While free agency and the draft can shift the outlook a bit — and really anything can happen between now and next year — the early odds point favorably in both Super Bowl 55 teams’ directions, per the DraftKings sportsbook:
