Six available rentals a short stroll from some of Australia’s best beaches
Now that summer is in full swing, the Australian coastline is the place to be, but living a short stroll from some of the best beaches in the country is out of reach for many.
Luckily for tenants, the dream of living near the water could be a reality with some beachside rentals currently up for grabs.
Executive manager of economic research at realestate.com.au Cameron Kusher said Australians have always been drawn to beachside suburbs but they are even more popular during the pandemic.
“Now, given that people expect more workplace flexibility, we are seeing more Aussies decide to give up the city lifestyle and move to coastal areas of the country,” Mr Kusher said.
Property managers in coastal regions across the country have seen a surge in interest during COVID-19.
Claire Smith, partner at Jellis Craig – Sorrento on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula said more space and the beach lifestyle has appealed to many families during the pandemic and supply has struggled to keep up with the demand.
“We have seen prices for permanent and holiday rentals increase by around 30% due to lack of stock,” Ms Smith said.
“We look after properties from Portsea to Rye and we see no indication that prices will steady. They are increasing at a rapid rate as many families can now work from home and live in a nicer environment, which wasn’t an option pre-COVID when so many people had to go to an office each day.”
