Sasha Calle As DC Films’ Supergirl; Will Appear In Ezra Miller’s The Flash

Up, up and away!

Sasha Calle has been cast as Supergirl in Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie.

Today, The Flash director Andy Muschietti revealed that Supergirl will appear in the upcoming Ezra Miller-led film. Sasha Calle will play Kara Danvers/Supergirl for the upcoming live-action Flashpoint adaptation. Muschietti had this to say on the casting process:

“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The US, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia . The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role,”

Calle is best known for her role on The Young and the Restless. The actress joins the ranks of actresses that have played Supergirl which includes Melissa Benoist and Helen Slater. It was previously rumored that Supergirl would get her own solo film, so it wouldn’t be a stretch that she’ll be sticking around after The Flash.

The upcoming solo film will be inspired by the Flashpoint comic storyline which followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles. It is currently unknown how much inspiration the upcoming Ezra Miller film will take from the comic.

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle and Billy Crudup.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the DC Extended Universe and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content.
