Ryan Reynolds Shares Set Photos From Secret Christmas-Themed Deadpool Project
Deadpool may be headed back to Marvel Studios sooner than fans expected! Recent social media posts by Ryan Reynolds suggest a holiday special may be in the works.
Deadpool and Wolverine was a massive success for Marvel Studios. As such, it only makes sense that they would want to get Ryan Reynolds back in a suit as the Merc with a Mouth as soon as possible. Many assumed this would mean a leading role in a future Avengers film. However, it seems the more likely outcome is a brand new holiday special starring the beloved Captain Deadpool.
Speculation about a holiday special stem from a recent post by Ryan Reynolds on Instagram showing himself filming a secret project in a Deadpool suit. Given the photos also feature Leslie Uggams as Blind Al and Christmas decorations in the background, many believe that this is the first announcement of a holiday special starring the anti-hero.
Is Deadpool Getting A Holiday Special?
Marvel Studios has a history of releasing special presentations during the holidays. From The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special to Werewolf by Night, fans are overdue for another holiday celebration. And given Ryan Reynolds is one of their biggest stars right now with the release of Deadpool and Wolverine, it makes sense they’d lean into the hype by putting out even more content with the Merc with a Mouth.
However, this wouldn’t be the first time Ryan Reynolds filmed Christmas scenes as Deadpool. Deadpool 2 was infamously rereleased under the title Once Upon A Deadpool, featuring the film dulled down to a PG-13 rating through the lens of Wade Wilson telling the story to Fred Savage. It’s possible that this tease is Marvel Studios filming scenes to re-release Deadpool and Wolverine this December as a PG-13 holiday special.
