Rahul Kohli Clarifies Those Fantastic Four Reed Richards Reports: ‘Lesson Learned’

iZombie and The Fall of the House of Usher actor Rahul Kohli has clarified those Fantastic Four rumors that said he lost the Reed Richards role to Pedro Pascal. The actor apologized for the confusion and said “lesson learned.

Kohli responded in an Instagram story and released a statement after the story surfaced on Deadline on Saturday: “F–king hell, this is being blown way out of proportion. I wasn’t going to address it but I guess I have to now. I said during a podcast ‘I didn’t get it.’ I didn’t say I was in the running or I lost to Pedro Pascal or I was being considered or close to being in it. I just didn’t get it and it was part of a larger point about fancasting and mental health.”

Kohli added: “Kohli added: “As for the role, Pedro is one of my favorite actors out there, a lovely person, and I can’t think of a better actor to play Reed. We were never ‘up against each other,’ I was never in his league to begin with.”

Kohli ended his statement saying: “Kohli ended his statement saying: “I’m stoked for him and can’t wait to watch! Apologies everyone, lesson learned!”

Previously, in an interview with Salaam Nerds, Kohli said: “Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine. It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything.”

Kohli continued, “On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.’ So, it’s sweet and it’s perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.”

What we know about the Fantastic Four movie

Marvel Studios recently announced the cast for its Fantastic Four reboot, setting the stage for a new era of MCU adventures. Stepping into the roles of the beloved superhero team are Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. Ralph Ineson will play Galactus.

The Fantastic Four characters were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, with the team making its first comic book appearance in 1961. The previous Fantastic Four movies, while popular, were not well-received by fans or critics, and Marvel Studios has an opportunity to right the wrongs of the past and deliver a feature that is true to the spirit of the comics.

Behind the scenes, The Fantastic Four will be brought to life under the direction of Matt Shakman, with Josh Friedman writing the screenplay. With production slated to begin in summer 2024, Marvel fans can look forward to the film’s journey to theaters in July 2025, marking a new chapter in the MCU.

Fantastic Four opens on July 25, 2025.
