One of CSGO’s most beloved maps is finally in Counter-Strike 2

While plenty of iconic Counter-Strike maps have been beautifully recreated in CS2 already, one worshipped arena has sadly been absent. However, thanks to one of its original creators, it’s finally blessing the tactical shooter. Fresh from Shawn ‘FMPONE’ Snelling’s Steam Workshop, an enhanced version of Cache is now available in Counter-Strike 2.

Ever since Valve’s switch from CS:GO over to CS2, it’s been steadily adding shiny new versions of fan-favorite maps. Train was the most recent addition to the FPS game, joining the likes of Dust 2, Ancient, and Mirage. Now, the time has come for Cache – which is set in the shadow of the Chernobyl power plant in Ukraine – to join these other beloved battlegrounds. While it hasn’t been officially added to CS2 by Valve, you can now download it from the Steam Workshop thanks to a gorgeous remake of the map from FMPONE, the original environment artist for Cache in CS:GO and its custodian ever since.

However, given how Cache’s popularity, first as a custom CS:GO map and then as a reworked, Valve-sanctioned map, it wouldn’t surprise me if the new and improved Cache gets swiftly added to the official pool of competitive CS2 maps in the near future.

While the sharp and vibrant new version of Cache looks absolutely spectacular, fans have quickly noticed an omission that may disappoint fans of Counter-Strike esports. Thanks to his famous no-scope AWP double kill on the map during ESL One Cologne in 2016, graffiti art commemorating Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyljev’s iconic play was added to the map not long after the tournament by FMPONE himself.

However, in the new CS2 version, s1mple’s graffiti is absent. Once officially adopted and added to the map pool by Valve, maybe it’ll be re-added. But for now, the wall is just bare brick.
