NRL Titans players and senior management staff have quietly invested millions of dollars in the Gold Coast’s hot property market, buying up homes often before they even hit the market.

Promising Titans centre Brian Kelly was the most recent player to settle on a family home with wife Marissa, secured off-market in the leafy suburb of Worongary.

Forward and rookie of the year Jaimin Jolliffe also put down roots after signing a full-time contract with Gold Coast, snapping up a stylish three-bedroom duplex in a popular pocket of Varsity Lakes ahead of its scheduled auction date.

The club’s CEO Steve Mitchell and general manager of commercial Jonathon Stewart also splashed out on homes in some of the Coast’s most sought-after addresses, on the waterfront in Palm Beach, and bordering bushland in Currumbin Waters.

Titans prop and QLD State of Origin player Moeaki Fotuaika made his first foray into real estate, albeit north of the Coast in the Logan suburb of Crestmead, with the purchase of a dual-living property where he lives with his two brothers, both also talented footballers.

Collectively, the buy-up totals around $4.35m, with negotiations for each of the properties handled by buyer’s agent and former Titans hooker, Matt Srama.

Mr Srama said most of the properties were secured off-market, allowing the high-profile buyers to avoid the competitive aspect of real estate and instead focus on the competition on field.

“The NRL club is a high-performance company built off results, so generally not only are its players and staff time poor, but also they are extremely focused in their attention and energy with training and working each week,” Mr Srama said.

“Engaging a buyer’s agent or purchasing off market are strategies which allow them to achieve that goal of buying a property on the beautiful Gold Coast without having to spend their weekends and afternoons at inspections or auctions.”
