Most viewed Semaphore home sold for $1.8m

A stunningly renovated and extended family home at 23 Penny St, Semaphore has not disappointed at auction. It has sold for an eye-watering sum of $1.8m.

The historic property, sympathetically renovated to make it the perfect contemporary family home, was also the most viewed listing nationally on realestate.com.au before it went to auction on the weekend.

While it garnered 11,545 views online, the four-bedroom property saw “extreme” buyer interest offline as well.

Presented to market by selling agents Kate Smith and Alexander Zadow of Harcourts Smith, the home saw over 100 groups of people view the home via inspections.

“The response was amazing and we had eight registrations on the day of the auction,” Mr Zadow said.

“There were five active bidders and the final sale price is a very good result. It is the highest price ever paid for a home on the easterly side of Military road in Semaphore,” he said.

The winning bid was made by a couple who are relocating to SA from Victoria.

The home has four bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen, dining and family room, a separate lounge, quality fixtures and finishes throughout and a large alfresco area with an outdoor kitchen that overlooks the rear yard.

The outdoor space is perfect for entertaining and has an open kitchen area as well.

Vendor Annette Fiedler had bought the home eight years ago as a renovator, attracted by its potential for a transformation.

“I have had a lot of parties here and hosted a lot of family gatherings, and you’re both inside and outside the whole time – it just works really well,” Ms Fiedler said.

Another drawcard was the garage, complete with its electronic turntable and hoist.

“The turntable is amazing, and it’s a fantastic workshop, but that space could easily become a studio or extra living space or a family room,” she said.
