“Maybe Today” by S. K. Williams
I finished reading this today and I have to say that I enjoyed it. People who enjoy Courtney Peppernell might enjoy the poetry in this book, however, I must admit that some of the poetry (not all of it) may seem a little dark at times. I think the author meant to show us that we are not alone when have a bad day or are going through a rough patch. I do recommend this for adults only though (or at least read this yourself before you let your kiddos read it).
Synopsis: Growing pains, societal pressures, loneliness, grief––all these things make it hard to see the positive moments life offers. Maybe Today, a new collection of poetry from SK Williams, reflects on these difficulties but paves a path of light and love while doing so. Through inspiration from nature and gentle yet stirring words, Williams proves that becoming the healthiest, happiest version of ourselves is possible––and worth it. Sometimes we just need a little help finding it.
Titled “Fall,” “Winter,” “Spring,” and “Summer,” each of the four sections of the book detail varying yet relatable life experiences. The main voice of the book is enhanced through the addition of annotations from a tender perspective of a trusted friend, representing the gentler, affirming perspective we all deserve to hear.
