Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Speaks On Potential DC Universe Crossover Movie

Could a Marvel and DC crossover movie finally happen? Kevin Feige gives his thoughts on the idea now that James Gunn is helming the opposition.

Fans have been frothing at the mouth over the concept of Marvel and DC having a silver screen crossover since the two comic juggernauts first came to form. Now with the superhero movie becoming its own genre, and Marvel alum James Gunn crafting the DC Universe, Kevin Feige has tipped his hand about the potential for the two IPs to meet.

“I think about it occasionally, like any fan would think about it,” Feige explained in a recent talk with Collider. “I don’t know when in the heck that would ever happen, or how that would happen. But we’ve been talking too long for me to go, ‘Never! We’d never be able to do that.’ We’ll never say never, but no, no plans. I’ve seen the paparazzi shots of the Superman set looking cool. So he’s focusing on that. We’re focusing on [Deadpool and Wolverine].”

It’s a shame that no plans are currently in place, given that Marvel is shepharding out its old guard at the end of the multiverse saga. However, the confirmation that Kevin Feige has been thinking about the idea should give fans some hope. It’s possible that, once James Gunn gets the DC Universe situated to the point Warner Bros. Discovery isn’t a financial dumpster fire, this crossover pipe dream could finally be a reality.

Marvel And DC’s History Of Crossover

Kevin Feige and James Gunn aren’t the only bridge tying the two companies together. Marvel and DC actually have a long history when it comes to crossover stories. The most famous of which being the Amalgam series, where heroes from both universes were mashed together into a new universe. While perhaps not fit for the big screen, that could be a fun animated olive branch to tide fans over.

Amalgam is far from the only story Kevin Feige and James Gunn could pull from when crafting crossover plans though. Marvel and DC had a slew of crossovers from the 70s to the early 2000s. Single issue stories saw meetings between Superman and Spider-Man, as well as villains like Thanos and Darkseid. With Marvel vs Capcom back on the menu on the gaming side, the likelihood of this tradition being revived is more likely than ever!
