Live a life of luxury in enviable Beaumont home
A Beaumont home is offering househunters a luxurious lifestyle with plenty of space to entertain, both inside and out.
Vendors Vicki and Tim bought are selling their home at 15 Sturt Place after buying it for 23 years ago.
Back then, they attracted to its space, convenient location, potential for a glamorous renovation and idyllic outlook over Beaumont Common.
“We had four children and needed more space,” Vicki says.
“We were living in Harrow Rd, in College Park and we wanted to be closer to Seymour College for the girls.
“The boys went to Rostrevor and we spent a lot of time driving the triangle, whereas at least here the girls could walk to school and then we were just driving the boys to school.
“It was just a lot easier.
“When we bought it it was fairly derelict.
“The floorboards had sunk away from the walls and there were possums and rats and all sorts inside, so we really improved it and made it flow for family living.”
The couple have since renovated the property inside and out, transforming it into a stunning family home they are proud of, and a grand entertainer that caters for both large and intimate gatherings.
“It’s a classic family home with lots of heart and soul and we really wanted it to be a quality renovation and a place with several versatile entertainment spaces we can use year-round,” Vicki says.
“We wanted this to be the place where all of our kids’ friends wanted to come, and that’s exactly how it’s turned out.
“There are separate areas where they could be and we weren’t.
“We’ve had pre-formal parties here and all sorts.
“Within that house we’ve had a sit down dinner in that lounge/dining area for 80 people – that whole space opens up.
“We have Christmases for 27 inside and it’s not a drama – you don’t need a marquee.
“So there are big spaces you can use, but the way the house is built you can also divide the rooms off so you don’t feel like you’re living in a big cavernous space.
“It can be lots of smaller areas or one big one.
“It is a fantastic home for entertaining and has seen everything from young children’s parties all the way through to 18ths, 21sts and weddings, not to mention 50ths and 60ths.
“With the internal space and the fantastic surroundings, it’s been a true haven during Covid-19.”
The home has five bedrooms, with space upstairs where children can enjoy their own space without disturbing the parents downstairs.
“There are four bedrooms upstairs, two bathrooms and an entertaining area up there,” Vicki says.
“So the girls had a bathroom and the boys had a bathroom, and they had a rumpus room up there to enjoy, and then the master suite was downstairs, so we didn’t actually have to go upstairs and see their mess.”
Downstairs you’ll find a central open-plan lounge and dining room, a separate lounge with a bay window with bench seat; and an open-plan kitchen, living and meals area.
The home also has a cellar, extensive covered alfresco entertainment areas and sits on a spacious allotment with a tennis court, a swimming pool and established gardens.
“The space outside is great, and it’s an interesting garden,” Vicki says.
“There’s a lot of different spaces within the garden and it’s a real adventure out there.
“The garden, we started from scratch 23 years ago and that has developed into a stunning feature of the home and has been open for the Open Garden scheme.

“There is always something to pick, whether it be irises or roses, lemons, limes or quinces.”
Sitting in an elevated position, the home offers eastern views over Beaumont Common – a large park left mostly to its natural state – while to the west you can take in outlooks over the suburbs and city beyond.
The property also has planning approval for a second attached 553sqm allotment, creating a great opportunity either in the future or imminently.
With their children having left home, Vicki says it’s time for the couple to downsize.
“Upstairs is empty and it really is a house that needs to be enjoyed by a family with kids,” she says.
“It will be nice for someone else to be able to enjoy its fantastic location too.
“Devereux Rd’s shops are a three-minute walk and the Pioneer Women’s Walk trail is also easily accessible.
“I will be really sad to leave this home, but it’s the right time to do it.”
