Lap up the luxury life by the beach in a Middleton mansion

A Middleton home offers a grand lifestyle, a smart design, and is just moments from all the action.

Steve and Leanne Wickham have called the house at 78 Esplanade home for 11 years, but have in recent years bowled over their older home to make room for their dream retirement build.

“We decided that when we retired this would be our forever retirement home, but we’ve got children and grand children all around Australia, and we thought being located in the middle of them would be ideal, but it’s proven a little difficult, so now we’ve decided to go grey nomading and travel around Australia by caravan and see them that way,” Mr Wickham says.

The house they say goodbye to is a high-end beachfront home, complete with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a spacious outdoor entertainment area, a pool and spa and a separate studio. Mr Wickham says the home’s location drew the couple to the property in the first place.

“It’s a dead-end street, really quiet, it’s all flat and offers great access to all the bike paths and is walking distance from the shops at Middleton,” he says.

“It’s really central. It’s really an untouched area.”

And the home was designed to help them enjoy every moment and aspect of their gorgeous setting.

“It was all about maximising the view and making the house really functional,” Mr Wickham says.

“It needed to be good for the grandchildren and easy to maintain.

“All the materials in that house are for beach living, so it’s a very low-maintenance house and we built with ABC, who builds on the ocean down there all the time.

“Our builder designed it so that from every angle you can see the beach, especially from downstairs.

“There’s nothing to interrupt that view, so you can be entertaining in the backyard and still looking out to the ocean. All of the inclusions are very high quality because this was going to be our forever home.”

As sad as they will be to say goodbye to the home they’ve poured so much love into, the Wickhams are excited about the adventure ahead and hope a family will enjoy what they have created and make the most of its incredible setting.

It is listed with a $3 million price tag.
