Landmark Alex Popov designed Northbridge house, sells for $22 million in just four days

A landmark Northbridge house has sold in just four days for around $22m nipping at the heels of the suburb record and it is only the third house to trade north of $20m in the suburb.

The vendors, Declan and Cherly McEvoy, bought 51 Coolawin Rd at the end of 2017 paying $14m for the Alex Popov designed property on 2012 sqm of waterfront land with jetty, tennis court and cantilevered pool.

Michael Coombs, of Atlas Lower North Shore, marketed a waterfront further along the road at 65 Coolawin Rd early this year securing a suburb record of $25m for the home and he had plenty of interest for the Alex Popov waterfront.

“We had half a dozen people interested in the home in the first few days, expats and local buyers,” he said.

“It is very rare to find a waterfront with great design and level land for a tennis court,” he added.

Mr Coombs couldn’t reveal the selling price but word on the street is that the McEvoys sold around the $22m guide.

He said that the $7m-$8m market was strong with plenty of buyers but the $3m-$6m range was a bit slower with more buyers impacted by interest rate rises.

“What we have noticed though is that in September buyer enquiries were up 12 per cent compared to last year which shows buyers are still there,” he said.

“Presenting an architecturally designed masterpiece by Alex Popov, this majestically scaled home capturing sweeping views of Middle Harbour offers state-of-the-art living across a flawless layout,” the listing read.
