Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis vs. David Avanesyan results, schedule for 2024 boxing fight

Fight fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Jaron “Boots” Ennis, who defends his IBF welterweight title against hard-hitting David Avanesyan on Saturday, July 13, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will be broadcast by DAZN.

Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs) will be making his debut with Matchroom Boxing. Having won the vacant title with a shutout points win over Karen Chukhadzhian and defended it with a TKO 10 victory over Roiman Villa, “Boots” will be looking to stomp his next challenger into the canvas.

“It’s a blessing to be able to fight here and I’m ready to put on a show and look good doing it. Beat him up, break him down, get the stoppage, and have my fun,” Ennis, a Philly native, said ominously.

“I’m going to show the world and the 147lb division that I am the best.”

Avanesyan (30-4-1, 18 KOs) has had a solid career, but he goes in against a fighter who has been tipped for pound-for-pound supremacy. In a previous outing at this level, the Russian-born Armenian was battered to defeat by Terence Crawford.

“I believe why I am here; God has given me the chance,” said the challenger. “I know he’s a good fighter, but I’m happy that he is, I only want to fight good fighters, that’s why I am here.

“I’ve fought Crawford, but that’s history. People that know boxing, know me. I’ve had many big fights, this is another good fight and a great chance for me, and I will give everything.”

Will Ennis put on a spectacular show before his home fans and put pressure on Crawford to face him down the line?

The Sporting News will provide undercard results and a full report on this welterweight championship fight.
