‘Indiana Jones 5’ Star Mads Mikkelsen Calls Harrison Ford ‘A Very Nice Monster’

Mads Mikkelsen recently talked about working with Harrison Ford on Indiana Jones 5 and teased what we can expect.

A fifth Indiana Jones film has been in development for many years and eventually got off the ground with Logan‘s James Mangold taking over directorial duties for Steven Spielberg. The upcoming film will also feature some pretty big names joining Harrison Ford such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Boyd Holbrook, and Toby Jones.

Mads Mikkelsen recently opened up about his work on the Indiana Jones film to The Hollywood Reporter and first talked about meeting Harrison Ford:

“It was the first time I met him, and he’s an insanely powerful person. Not just as an actor, but physically. I remember the first day we were shooting, it was a night shoot, then we stopped at 5 a.m. — and then he got on his mountain bike and went biking for 50 kilometers [31 miles]. Harrison is a monster of a man, a very nice monster.”

Mads Mikkelsen went on talk about his love for the Indiana Jones franchise and teased the upcoming sequel will go back to its roots:

“[Raiders of the Lost Ark] was one of my favorite films, and it just oozed that golden period of serials from the 1940s — and that’s in the fifth film as well. They’re going heavily back to the first and second film and getting that original feel, the original Indy, something dense and epic.”

Here is the synopsis for the previous film in the franchise, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:

STEVEN SPIELBERG and GEORGE LUCAS bring you the greatest adventurer of all time in “a nonstop thrill ride” (Richard Corliss, TIME) that’s packed with “sensational, awe-inspiring spectacles” (Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES). Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finds Indy (Harrison Ford) trying to outrace a brilliant and beautiful agent (Cate Blanchett) for the mystical, all-powerful crystal skull of Akator. Teaming up with a rebellious young biker (Shia LaBeouf) and his spirited original love Marion (Karen Allen), Indy takes you on an action-packed adventure in the exciting tradition of the classic Indiana Jones movies!
