Being able to read literature is something that has been a constant in my life. Even before I was old enough to read on my own, I enjoyed listening to someone else read to me. There are times when reading has gotten me into trouble. For example, I was caught reading late one night when I was suppose to be in bed asleep. My parents weren’t happy about the fact that I was up reading past my bed time but my father also lectured me on how that would ruin my eye sight if I continued reading in the dark. Over time, I did learn that there are times when it appropriate to read and times when there are not. The temptation is still there at times……there are times when I would rather stay home and read (especially if I’m in the middle of a really good book and I want to keep reading). But I know that I have to pay my bills or else I won’t have a place to live……or anything to eat………or any of the other important stuff. So, I have learned to enjoy my time getting to read around the time I have to go to work and do other things. There is just going to be times I wish I could read instead of doing the things I HAVE to do.

Reading isn’t just a form of entertainment for me…..it’s also helps me to relax after a long day at work. Reading allows me to focus on something else rather than repeatedly going over and over what all I’ve experienced throughout the day at work. I can get my mind off of that and back on my book that I’m in the middle of. The desire to see how the character(s) are doing in the book takes a hold and I want to see what happens next.
