Historic North Adelaide mansion snapped up for $4.5 million
The ink has dried on the multimillion-dollar sale of a historic North Adelaide mansion, which went under contract three days after hitting the market.
The sprawling character home at 146 Molesworth Street has officially changed hands, with property records revealing it was snapped up for $4.5 million.
It went under contract within three days of hitting the market in November but the sale officially settled this month.
CoreLogic data shows the deal is one of the top residential property sales penned in North Adelaide.
The suburb’s highest sale is believed to be Bishop’s Court at 45 Palmer Place – its sale price is yet to be revealed but it is understood to have broken the state’s residential real estate record of $7 million.
South Australia Sotheby’s International Realty Adelaide principal Grant Giordano, who handled the Molesworth Street house’s sale, said they received multiple offers for the grand four-bedroom home.
“A local buyer beat out two interstate and one international clients for the property,” he said.
“We only conducted six private showings, four through our private list, and of those six showings we had three offers and it was sold within three days.”

Built in circa 1871, the three-storey residence includes a ballroom, library, conservatory leading to a sunroom through a wisteria arbour, gym, sauna, dry wine cellar, rooftop deck and solar heated pool.
Mr Giordano said it was the “awe-inspiring” home’s grandeur that appealed to prospective buyers most.
“It’s old world in a grand and light-filled sense,” he said.
“It’s totally awe-inspiring.”
Mr Giordano also handled the property’s last sale in 2018, when an overseas buyer snapped it up for $4.1 million.
