Highest Priced Pebble Beach Home Sale In Seven Years

Pebble Beach, on California’s Monterey Peninsula, is known for its dramatic oceanfront scenery, its legendary golf links and its famous 17-Mile Drive. In a coveted community, that is the most coveted address.

On 17-Mile Drive, two locations are at the top of the desirability list: Ocean Front and Golf Front. Homes do not come up for sale very often in these choice locations. 

The $28 million sale of an estate located on Pescadero Point, a short stroll from The Lodge, is a notable example of the rare Pebble Beach Ocean Front home sale. It is also the second priciest residential real estate transaction in the town; the most expensive was the $34 million sale of a home in 2014. 

“Location is all,” says Jessica Canning of Canning Properties Group, a division of Sotheby’s International Realty. “This property has the ultimate location, with stunning views from every room. Variously, we see the Pebble Beach Golf Links, Carmel Bay and Beach, Carmel Valley and Point Lobos. There is drama outside every window.”

Located on just over two acres, the property has a main house with four bedrooms, four full and two half baths. A separate guest house has one bedroom and one bath. Built in 1991, the home was extensively remodeled in 2001, with an interior designed by noted California designer Jeffrey Doherty.

In the master wing, a private study features custom white oak panels and walnut accents. A wood burning fireplace adds cozy atmosphere; French doors lead to an oceanside terrace. The master bath is furnished with his and hers sinks, a jacuzzi tub, a shower and private toilet with bidet. The vast custom master wardrobe is equipped with a make-up vanity and an onyx island.
