HBO Developing ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel ‘Tales Of Dunk And Egg’
More Game of Thrones is on the way.
HBO is developing a Game of Thrones spin-off focusing on the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon V Targaryen.
Variety brings word that HBO is working on an adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg, a prequel series to the events of Game of Thrones. The Tales of Dunk and Egg is a series of three novellas set 90 years before Game of Thrones, following Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire (as well as future Lord of the Seven Kingdoms) Aegon V Targaryen.
According to Variety, HBO has yet to find a writer for the Tales of Dunk and Egg series but the project is a priority at the premium cable network. In addition to Tales of Dunk and Egg, HBO is also working on another Game of Thrones prequel titled House of the Dragon, which has received a full series order and is expected to premiere sometime in 2022.
Entertainment Weekly adds that HBO is looking to develop a number of other Game of Thrones spin-offs besides House of the Dragon and Tales of Dunk and Egg. One of the ideas being considered is a series about Robert’s Rebellion, an event that was heavily referenced throughout the eight-year run of Game of Thrones. Rome creator Bruno Heller is among the writers pitching spin-off ideas to HBO.
Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Liam Cunningham as Ser Davos Seaworth, Carice van Houten as Melisandre, Rory McCann as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Conleth Hill as Varys, Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy, John Bradley as Samwell Tarly, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth, Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane, Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark, Jerome Flynn as Bronn, Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont, Hannah Murray as Gilly.
