Gartland Property, Geelong agent Candice Costoso said the vendors had since completed a quality renovation that wowed buyers.
“They moved into it in 2019 and they’ve renovated to the highest quality, they redesigned the ground floor and it was all architecturally designed,” Ms Costoso said.
“It was absolutely beautiful and people just loved the feeling of the house and the backyard.
“Some people who looked at it had only been looking in Highton but they came over because of the style.”
Holding the auction on the sun-drenched rear lawn and covered wraparound deck showed off the fantastic outdoor connection from the new open-plan kitchen, dining and living room.
A stylish kitchen with stone benchtops, double ovens and a butler’s pantry with Italian terrazzo tiles is the centrepiece of the space.
The reconfigured floorplan also includes a second loungeroom, main bedroom with ensuite and a study nook.
Bidding opened at $1.2m and quickly raced above $1.4m expectations.
Gartland Property, Geelong auctioneer Will Ainsworth let the two frontrunners do the work until the eventual buyer entered the race at $1.58m.
Ms Costoso said the family had been looking for a home in Geelong for a couple of years.
“They just loved the feel and quality of everything, they came through about four or five times,” she said.
