Donvale: The house designed to look like a church conversion
A church-inspired home built for a devout Irish catholic has blessed the Donvale market.
The heavenly house, with a modern interior, at 9 Pisces Court could be mistaken for a converted church, but Hoskins Donvale’s Peter Moulden said the unique five-bedroom abode was commissioned by its religious original owner in the 1980s.
“It’s only been owned by two families and the original owner was influenced by the spectacular architecture of catholic cathedrals,” Mr Moulden said.

“He wanted to recreate the gothic windows and used clinker bricks to emulate the facade of a church. He ended up building a covered outdoor entertaining area for one of his daughter’s weddings.”
The 4300sq m property has been listed with $3-$3.3m price hopes.
Mr Moulden said the current owner had given the property a fresh twist with renovations to the inside.
“He liked the style and kept the original design principles but turned it into his own family haven,” he said.
“There’s a library room and studies – one even looks like a little chapel inside.”
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime sort of property with old-style architecture and character mixed with the modern bathrooms.”

Fresh paint, Italian marble flooring and Miele appliances in the kitchen were other renovation additions to the home.
“It’s not the typical glitz and glamour you might find in the surrounding streets but it’s got a character which will appeal to someone who appreciates the architecture,” Mr Moulden added.
The home is for private sale.
