A LUXURY multimillion-dollar North Hobart residential complex has hit the ground running with only two of the four apartments still available within just days of it hitting the market.

Harcourts Signature property representative Nick Cowley says the developer will keep one of the Aberdeen on Burnett apartments while the other sale was to a professional couple who have lived in Sydney for most of their lives.

“They are originally from Hobart and are looking to return home in the not to distant future,” he said.

“They have been searching for a considerable amount of time for an off-the-plan apartment in Hobart, but hadn’t come across a new build that met their expectations — until now.

“Some of the highlights they said set the development ‘significantly apart’ from others in the city were the top-of-the-line AEG cooking appliances, Liebeer French door integrated fridge, the custom joinery, polished concrete flooring in the living spaces, a commercial lift, hydronic heating, Hydrowood celery top pine external cladding and 83sq m basement.”

Nick sold No.4 for $1.65m in three days of it hitting the market.

He said that it was a record advertised sale price for an apartment north of the Hobart CBD.

Aberdeen on Burnett’s construction is due to commence in March.

The site at No.1 Burnett Street has a rich heritage and holds historic significance.

“The name originates from the place of birth of John Burnett, a civil servant born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland who arrived in Hobart in 1826,” he said.

“John held office as colonial secretary for nine-and-a-half years, and then as sheriff for 14 years.”

More recently, a 1906-built Italianate-style brick house on the site was home to a bikie clubhouse.

In mid-2019, plans to demolish the buildings hit a snag when a Hobart City Council report found it made “a positive contribution to the historic cultural significance” of the area.

But by the end of July, demolition of the Rebels clubhouse had been given the green light in a 6-3 vote.

Nick said Aberdeen on Burnett’s developer was aiming to set a high bar for construction, design and luxury apartment living — “perhaps the best yet to be seen in Hobart”.

The homes’ security features include remote-controlled gate access, secure basement parking, CCTV surveillance
and keypad access to each of the residences.

Luxury appointments include motorised blinds, thermal and acoustic spray foam insulation, 200mm thick precast concrete walls between each apartment, a private courtyard for each residence, a covered patio/deck with tiled flooring and glass balustrade in most of the apartments, and a private lift in No.4.

The projected completion date is December this year.

Apartment No.3 is priced at $1.1m-plus and No.2 at $1.55m-plus — both will have three bedrooms.

The homes will be positioned in walking distance of the CBD and the
lively entertainment precinct in North Hobart.
