‘Clayface’ Rumor Suggests Mike Flanagan Project May Be One Of The DC Universe’s Next Films
Clayface might be coming sooner than fans expect! The long-rumored project by Mike Flanagan is reportedly close to filming for the DC Universe.
When the DC Universe was first announced, literally dozens of projects were rumored to be in the works from dozens of different writers and directors. One rumor that mostly slipped through the cracks to all but hardcore fans stated that Mike Flanagan, best known for his work on horror projects like Doctor Sleep and The Haunting of Hill House, was helming a project based on the beloved Batman villain Clayface.
Many assumed that this rumor pointed to Mike Flanagan helming a spin-off project for The Batman universe. However, it now seems that Clayface will be a project set in the world of the main DC Universe reboot. While it seems like a project that James Gunn might want to wait a few years to greenlight, all signs point to the film already gearing up to start production.
Is Clayface Getting A Film In The DC Universe?
The rumor providing an update on the film’s production is coming from Apocalyptic Horseman at Nexus Point News, who reveals that Mike Flanagan’s script for Clayface is completely finished. The project is also reportedly going to be one of the earliest to come out of the DC Universe slate, with the insider stating that the film is aiming to shoot in Spring.
Sadly, it seems that while Mike Flanagan wrote Clayface, he won’t be directing it due to prior obligations with The Exorcist that is set to come out in 2026. While the idea of giving a Batman villain his own film before the Caped Crusader even debuts in the DC Universe may seem odd, it’s clear that this project was born out of Flanagan’s passion for the character, which is more than people can say about a lot of films to hit the silver screen these days.
Clayface is reportedly set to film Spring 2025. This project has not yet been confirmed by DC Studios. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
