Blairgowrie Hamptons-inspired dream home wows on market

The property at 9-13 Mirino Street, Blairgowrie, is in a league of its own.

The Hamptons comes to the Mornington Peninsula at this one-of-a-kind coastal estate that’s hit the market after taking five years to create.

The luxurious Blairgowrie home’s design was inspired by the work of an architect who was prominent in the beach haven for wealthy New Yorkers, Whitefox selling agent James Hallahan said.

“(The vendor) spent a lot of time in New York for work, so he’s fallen in love with the architecture,” he said.

The property is made up of three barn-like buildings.

Coastal vegetation and a rustic look.

Expansive lawns between the outdoor terrace and the pool.

“The property brings that style of New York architects to life in a peninsula version.”

A buyer will need to dig deep to snare the 9-13 Mirino Street property — it has a $9.5-$9.9m price guide for its private auction, scheduled for March 3.

Mr Hallahan said the vendor bought the substantial 7183sq m site in 2014. The planning and building process then took about five years, with the six-bedroom residence finished 18 months ago.

“They finished the barbecue area three to four months ago, and that was the last thing to be done,” he said.

Live a life of absolute luxury.

Bunks built into the walls and a drop down cinema screen for the kids.

“(The vendor) has been able to enjoy it for 18 months, he’s had his first full summer there with his family and extended family.

“But he enjoyed the process and would very much like to do it again. The hard thing will be trying to find a similar parcel of land to be able to do so.”

Mr Hallahan said visitors to the property “watched the house come to life” as they drove up the long driveway.

It’s comprised of three barn-like structures that are made of Blackbutt hardwood and hand-chipped stone, feature striking galvanised-steel windows and doors, and are joined together by walkways.

Dreaming among the clouds.

A games room as well.

Joining the residence on the sprawling block are a 20m-long pool, a spa, a quarter-size floodlit basketball court, a fire pit, a built-in barbecue, an alfresco terrace, and a large vegetable and herb garden with a feature fountain, a pizza oven and a Spanish grill.

The house itself offers multiple living spaces, including a first-floor rumpus room and an open-plan lounge and dining area that adjoins a “New York-style kitchen”.

The latter boasts marble benchtops, two Vintech wine fridges, and both a steam and conventional oven.

Bright and cosy.

Laid-back living.

Refined style.

Huge space to entertain.

Four of the six bedrooms have ensuites. The main also has a circular bathtub and balcony offering views over the pool and neighbouring National Park, while the “bunk room” has six beds, a drop-down cinema screen and a “locker room-style bathroom”.

A four-car garage with boat storage space completes the rare package.

Mr Hallahan said properties were regularly flying off the market in a matter of days, for “very good prices”, such was the demand on the peninsula.

“We missed three months of the market (with lockdown) last year,” he said. “Now, we’re trying to play catch up.”

From the pool to the spa and back again.

A barbecue pavilion is another inclusion.
