A charmed coastal life awaits the buyer of this Blairgowrie beach house that was about five years in the making.

When award-winning builder Scott Hansen, of Hansen Living, snapped up 34 Ridley Street in 2015, it featured overgrown grounds and a gutted 1970s fibro shack in desperate need of some TLC.

Mr Hansen — whose company has been creating homes across the Bayside, Port Phillip and Mornington Peninsula regions for two decades — said he “deconstructed, extended and substantially renovated” the original house, retaining its coastal-chic vibe in lime-wash ceilings, timber floors and stone benchtops.

Its highlights include an open-plan living and dining area with a Miele kitchen and a wood-burning Coonara fireplace.

RT Edgar Portsea selling agent Clayton Smith said this had translated to dozens of inspections ahead of what promised to be a “firecracker” Australia Day weekend auction.
