‘Avengers’ Director Likens Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Recasting To Batman

Those are gonna be some big shoes to fill, bub!

Avengers director Joe Russo compares Marvel Studios’ search for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine successor to casting a new Batman.

Over the years, audiences have gotten used to the idea of new actors taking on iconic superhero roles from Batman to Spider-Man. However, not many actors have played a character for 17 years like Hugh Jackman has with Wolverine. It’s expected that Jackman will remain retired, which means Marvel Studios will have to find a new Wolverine eventually.

Succeeding Hugh Jackman will be a tough act to follow, and Kevin Feige claims they haven’t started the search yet. During an appearance on Lights Camera Barstool, Avengers director Joe Russo likened the hunt for a new Wolverine to finding a new Batman. The Avengers director also shared that he would love to take on a Wolverine story in the future:

“You have to really find the right actor to come in and give a really different take… But I’d love to take a crack at Wolverine”

Do you think the next Wolverine will be cast in the next three years? Do you think the casting is similar to finding a new Batman? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
