Apple 1 ROM Card, Integer BASIC

I must admit, the Apple 1 computer is a little before my time and so I’m sure many an Apple 1-related project or build has passed me by. Frankly though. it was the images of the 4kb Apple 1 integer BASIC ROM card that got me interested, as it looks amazing.

When I say a little before my time. Integer BASIC is the same age as me! First seen in 1976, this was the quintessential first BASIC for many people lucky enough to have a home computer in this era. This double-sided printed circuit board has no solder mask and just basks in a glorious gold-plated finish. It’s supplied fully assembled and ready to go. On board is the 2732 EEPROM with its amazing 4kb of storage! It’s pre-loaded with Apple 1 integer BASIC so it’s ready to go in your system.

On the product page, there are some simple instructions to get you started including how to load BASIC from the Wozmon environment and also how to exit back to Wozmon whilst saving the BASIC program you were working on. If you’re like me and are interested in reading a little more about Integer BASIC, both technically and historically, there is a lot online. A good place to start is the Wikipedia page.

So if you have an Apple 1 that needs a fresh ROM, you can pick one up that’s ready to go out of the box! The seller, SiliconInsider, also has a lot of accessories for more modern Apple computers like the PowerMac series from the 1990s.
