Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan
This saucy, cheesy, air fryer chicken parm is a quick weeknight meal!
Turn a traditional chicken parmesan into an air fryer dinner and serve it over pasta.
A Quick Chicken Parm
- This recipe is so easy to cook in the air fryer and has even easier clean-up.
- Breaded chicken breasts come out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with less oil needed! Save time and calories!
- Heat some extra sauce and make this a whole meal served over pasta.
- This recipe works well with chicken thighs (or even chicken patties).
Ingredients
CHICKEN: Boneless, skinless breasts or thighs work well in this recipe. For a shortcut, use frozen tenders or frozen breaded chicken patties!
BREADING: Bread crumbs and parmesan cheese make the perfect coating to add both flavor and crunch.
SEASONINGS: Italian seasonings and a dash of garlic powder add flavor while fresh herbs before serving (if you have them) make it taste fresh and fancy!
CHEESE: Chicken parmesan has a creamy cheese topping made from a mix of mozzarella and Parmesan. Cook just until melted before adding the herbs.
How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan
The air fryer makes this dish come out perfect every time!
- Combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, & seasoning in a bowl. Beat egg in another bowl until foamy.
- Dip chicken into egg & then into breadcrumb mixture.
- Spray with cooking spray & cook (per recipe below).
- Once the chicken is cooked, top with a spoonful of marinara & sprinkle with cheese.
- Cook a couple more minutes until hot and melty.
Tips for Perfect Chicken Parm
- Choose chicken portions that are equal in size, pat them dry before the egg and breadcrumb steps. Gently press breadcrumbs into the meat to ensure the entire piece is coated.
- Always be sure to preheat the air fryer and avoid crowding the basket or pan. The key to that perfectly crispy exterior is the hot circulating around the chicken.
- Check the internal temperature of the chicken at the thickest portion and ensure it reaches 165°F.
- If you will be keeping leftovers, the sauce can be added when reheating instead.
