Acqua Bentleigh: Every apartment in development has its own pool

The Acqua development in Bentleigh is delivering poolside living to all its inhabitants.

A Bentleigh development is set to include a pool with every apartment in what could be a Melbourne first.

The four-storey project, dubbed Acqua, has been designed with two apartments, and two balcony-style pools, on each of its first three floors.

A full-floor penthouse with a rooftop pool caps off the plans for the 20 Bent Street property.

Smart Living developer Maurice Di Dio said he had always liked to do things “a little differently”, and he also wanted to build something that would “last forever”.

Extensive engineering expertise, as well as the significant amount of concrete needed to create wading-depth pools stacked above each other, will certainly help with the development’s permanence.

The 1-6/20 Bent Street, Bentleigh, development is believed to be the first in Melbourne to offer a pool with every home.

But Mr Di Dio is also hoping to recalibrate luxury living for the area in the process.

“There are a lot of downsizers who have lived in the area and got top dollar on their home, and are willing to spend that to stay in the area,” he said.

“And they have up to 120sq m of space, so even someone with a young family might look at it.”

He is so convinced it will be the perfect place to live, he is planning to move into the penthouse with his family.

O’Brien Oakleigh’s John Gorman said he’d never seen a development like it, nor had anyone at his office.

“It’s a stunning project, and inquiries have been really good,” Mr Gorman said.

In the space of three days over the Australia Day long weekend, eight prospective buyers had expressed interest, among them downsizers and a few 30-somethings.

While the development’s unique features appealed, so did the location — the Bent Street property is inside the McKinnon Secondary College zone.
