‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Composer Teases The Show’s Complex Issues

The show will grapple with what it means to be Captain America in the 21st century.

The composer for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier teased what issues the series will explore in its six-episode run.

WandaVision might be dominating Disney Plus for the moment, but Marvel fans are eagerly waiting for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to start streaming. The series which sees the return of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes will navigate the tricky future over who will be the next Captain America. Series lead Anthony Mackie previously confirmed that a new version of the hero will arrive by the time the show ends.

But during an interview with FilmSpeak, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier composer Henry Jackman (who also worked on The Winter Soldier and Civil War) teased the complex issues that the upcoming series will tackle. He noted that the mantle of Captain America and what that title means will be explored, especially with Sam Wilson seemingly taking on the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward.

“And in this particular series, there’s the very much untrivial and serious issue, particularly now more than ever, about what it means to hold that shield and what kind of a person should ultimately be holding that shield and with the history of this country and how African-Americans would feel about being a Captain America or not.”

What do you make of the composer’s thoughts on the Disney Plus series? Are you excited to see Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan return to the MCU? Sound-off in the comments below!
