2022 Year in Review

Here’s to another year of celebrating movement, joy, inspiration, strength and empowerment in the books! As we close out 2022, we’re thinking of everything our members, trainers and instructors were able to accomplish by moving and feeling better together, and we can’t wait to see what our community can achieve in the new year.

We’re also looking back at 2022 because of all the people we were able to bring back together again at our community events and all the services we were able to expand throughout our clubs. It’s been a year to remember and celebrate for so many reasons!

One Community

Our membership counts grew, we added more staff, joy continued to fill our clubs and classes, and we celebrated together, all year long. That’s the power of women and our Healthworks community, always!

All the Classes

We continued to increase our HWX in-club and virtual class offerings throughout the year as we returned to normal (huzzah!!). We also launched new classes: POWER45 (athletic conditioning) and 305 Fitness (dance cardio) as well as more 30-minute, shorter class offerings. We now have 100s of classes offered weekly at our clubs and 1000s on demand and live on HWX Digital Studio. We also took the city by storm with our HWX Summer Series classes, offering pop-ups across multiple neighborhoods (even the Boston Aquarium). We also brought back Zumba at the Hatch Shell and Self-Defense in Copley Square!

HWX x PRIDE

We celebrated PRIDE Month with free community and gathered together in FORMATION for the to cycle, lift and flow at Underground at Ink Block in the South End with an inspiring class to raise funds for Greater Boston PFLAG on June 25!

Strong Women Unite

On June 4, our Strong Women Deadlift Competition made its triumphant return and our community of women SHOWED UP! A total of 6,625 pounds were lifted with PR bells rung by all participants. This friendly competition between fellow members and staff was all about lifting each other up as much as it was about lifting the heaviest weight.

Wellness & Recovery

We celebrated wellness and recovery in every facet of the year. With increased massage offerings, our special Week of Wellness in February and the launch of Theraguns at our clubs. As we aim to make recovery an essential part of any workout routine, members now get complimentary access to both the Theragun PRO and Wave Roller devices, and we’ve also incorporated them into assisted stretching, massage and HWX service offerings.

Coolidge Corner Renovation

We made major upgrades to our Coolidge Corner club this December to elevate your experience from check-in to post-workout! We’ve added squat racks, benches, dumbbells and kettlebells as well as a large open area to work out, stretch and recover. You’ll also find a new member lounge to visit with friends, work or unwind and an updated front desk and staff work areas for improved member services.

45 Years of Strength

We celebrated a milestone anniversary in October! Healthworks has been part of Boston’s fitness community since 1977. That longevity and success have always been guided by a single focus: elevating the power of women through wellness and connection to each other and their inner selves. It was great to celebrate with all the people who make this a space where everyone can find and cultivate all facets of their power in whatever ways they see fit.

Now, What’s Next for 2023?

We know moving in the company of others boosts commitment and motivation, makes you feel like part of a team and can push you further than you might on your own, so we we’re expanding our class schedule again on January 9 to create more opportunities for just that. We’ll also be celebrating our Coolidge Corner renovation with a party on January 19. Our team is hard at work planning more ways that we can Elevate Your Energy for the remainder of 2023 and we can’t wait. Let’s make it the best YET and be sure to celebrate those 2022 accomplishments, big and small!
