South Australia’s highest sale of the week a $2.1 million Glenelg South home
The multimillion-dollar deal penned for a beachfront house that will become a new holiday home for its buyer marks South Australia’s top sale in the past week.
The Glenelg South residence at 43 South Esplanade was snapped up for $2.1 million – which CoreLogic data shows it the highest sale recorded across the state in the past week.
Harris Real Estate agent Simon Noakes, who sold the house with Michael Balawejder, said it hit the market in October but it wasn’t until the new year that it started to attract serious buyers.
“Everybody knows it’s a hot market and it’s creating more urgency,” he said.
“It’s stronger this year than it was last year.”
Mr Noakes said they received multiple offers for the three-storey, four-bedroom home with panoramic ocean views before it was snapped up.
“The buyer, he was a country buyer – he owns a farm – and the under bidder was from the eastern states,” he said.
“The buyer will have it as a holiday home.
“They have a similar place in Henley that they’ll sell.”

With the market fast heating back up following a slightly quieter period between Christmas and New Year, Mr Noakes believed it would stay strong for a least the first half of 2021.
“I’ve been in real estate about a decade and it’s the strongest market I’ve ever seen,” he said.
“It’s probably another six months of it being how it is now.”
