Real talk: I love a spicy condiment. From tangy, jalapeño-laced living vinegars to gourmet hot sauces that can be slathered on everything from tacos to frittatas, my fridge and pantry are filled to the brim with deliciously spicy things. One of my favorite recent discoveries, however, comes from a bit of an unlikely place: bees. I’m talking about Savannah Bee Company’s Hot Honey — a ridiculously well-balanced mashup of sweet wildflower honey and habanero and scotch bonnet peppers. This sweet and spicy honey leaves my mouth tingling, and I really can’t stop drizzling it on basically everything I eat.

Best known for their raw honeycomb and specialty monofloral honey — like their award-winning Tupelo — Savannah Bee Company strikes again with their game-changing Hot Honey. Made with wildflower honey infused with scotch bonnet and habanero peppers, this stuff is not your average spicy condiment. I first tried it drizzled atop a soppressata pizza, and I think I actually let out a very audible ‘OH… OK!” for all of my neighbors to hear. The hot honey cut straight through the richness and fat of the soppressata, and it made the garlic, oregano, and fior di latte sing. I was left with a very subtle tingle on my tongue from the heat, but also a comforting sweetness from the honey. My mouth was buzzing.

The next time I reached for my Hot Honey, I drizzled it atop a scoop of vanilla gelato and added a sprinkle of Maldon for good measure. Let’s just say that time basically stood still. The honey added even more richness and depth to my dessert, and I could see it working on flourless chocolate cake, frozen yogurt, and so much more. While you can certainly opt to buy the honey in its traditional jar format, I recommend the new squeeze bottle shape. It makes this condiment easy to keep clean and tidy. No sticky mess.

So, if you (like me) have a very occasional yet particular sweet tooth, and you generally also like your sweets to be balanced out with a bit of heat, I recommend scooping up this Hot Honey ASAP while it’s on sale for under $20 right now. It’s seriously the bee’s knees.
