Luxe Listings Sydney heavyweights clash in second series: ‘You’ve really f***ed me on this, mate’

‘You’ve really f***ed me on this, mate’ … the rivalry in the second series of Luxe Listings Sydney — launched on Prime Video today — was expected, but not this!

Ray White TRG founder Gavin Rubinstein and buyer’s agent Simon Cohen, who are mates in real life, clash over a would-be business deal gone wrong in an action-packed three-episode premiere.

After the initial “binge” of what’s now a global hit reality TV show — and with some of Sydney’s best oceanfront and harbourfront homes on show why wouldn’t it be — viewers can watch a new episode every Friday until April 22.

I’d anticipated the entry of Black Diamondz pricipal Monika Tu to ruffle a few feathers (and she does) but it’s the row over Cohen’s hunt for a Dover Heights clifftop house for a client that sees tensions explode.

Simon Gavin Rubinstein and Simon Cohen in the second series of Luxe Listings Sydney, which arrived on Amazon Video today.

Co-star D’Leanne Lewis find Cohen a “more attractive, better value” Dover Heights clifftop.

Superhero Rubinstein, who’s ambition is to see his company dominate Sydney’s east (and probably the world in the future), has convinced his mate, George, to sell his clifftop “masterpiece” if the money’s right.

He makes George a hard-to-refuse offer: “If I bring a suitcase with $17m or $18m, would you say yes [to selling]?”

Rubinstein even lines up a dream $25m beachfront for George to buy in Manly’s Shelly Beach, “Point Piper of the north!”

But even the best-laid plans ….. a call from Cohen, as Rubinstein stands on the balcony overlooking the ocean planning the “ultimate double deal” (you’ve gotta love real estate agents) shatters the whole shebang.

Wouldn’t you know it, co-star D’Leanne Lewis, the Laing and Simmon Double Bay principal, has found a “more attractive, better deal” a few 100m away from Gavin’s clifftop that “ticks all the boxes”.

It’s enough to make our superhero — and perhaps some of the viewers — feel a bit sick, but in Cohen-speak, “sick” means good.

That’s the word he uses to describe the St Leonards penthouse Monika has on offer for a mere $18.5m, complete with sauna, cheese room, cinema and virtual golf .. even a koi pond.

And she’ll throw in the Fendi couch and a baby crystal chandelier in the $1.8m furniture package.

“I’m selling the Australian dream to my Chinese clients,” Tu exclaims, who hosts a party in the penthouse’s display suite to find a co-agent, boycotted by Rubinstein.

When informed he’s gone on a date instead, Tu isn’t impressed: “I’m really shocked — he’s a no-show at my party!”

Never mind, a host of other big-name agents are there, including all the co-stars, plus Sydney Sotheby’s managing director Michael Pallier and top Manly agents Michael Clarke and Cherie Humel.

Earlier in three-episode binge, look out for Ray White bosses Brian White and Dan White, who square-off in Rubinstein in a tense meeting. Not to mention radio star Kyle Sandilands, plus Finder co-founder Fred Schebesta and his magnificent Coogee oceanfront home.
