Gold Coast hinterland house for sale inspired by the Moulin Rouge

This Moulin Rouge-inspired home in the hinterland will go to auction next month.

A MOULIN Rouge-inspired hinterland retreat styled with bohemian décor sourced from around the world is up for auction next month.

The four-bedroom home at Advancetown boasts panoramic ocean, skyline and hinterland views – but the eclectic mix of colours and textures furnishing this stylish cabaret house is equally as eye-catching.

The owner’s collection of chandeliers are showcased throughout the home.

Set across 3.32ha at 165 Beechmont Road, the property was a former boutique wedding venue and also comprises a converted chapel where visiting overseas couples once tied the knot.

Owner Amanda Morgan bought the house in 2012 and planned on decorating in minimalist style to showcase the spectacular views from almost every room.

But her love of colour and culture shone through and over time the renovated home was decked out in designer patterned wallpaper matched with feature walls and artworks from Bhutan, Prague and Venice.

Designer patterned wallpaper features in the cosy lounge room with open fireplace.

“It was just like a little cottage when I bought it really, but when I came and saw the view that was it — I bought it the same day,” Ms Morgan said

“Initially when I did the renovation I had ideas of doing a French provincial or white and minimalist style, but then I just love colour and so I gradually started painting feature walls and bought some wallpaper.

“I’ve done a bit of travelling over the years and I try and pick things up from overseas,” she said.

The piece de resistance is the master suite, a mix of French boudoir and country chic, with rich shades of plum and luxe gold drapes framing green views out to the Gold Coast skyline from Coolangatta to Runaway Bay.

An ornate black gloss chandelier features in the luxe lilac ensuite – it was originally an outdoor rotunda – with sheer black drapes and a freestanding bath by wide windows boasting one of the best vantage points in the house.

“I have quite eclectic tastes and I like that bohemian feel,” said Ms Morgan, a psychologist.

“It’s pretty out there. It’s definitely my taste, though it may not be for everyone.”

Open plan living areas with wide decks capture the views.

The home’s open-plan living area flows via cedar folding doors onto wide entertaining decks that house Ms Morgan’s favourite feature – an outdoor spa jutting out under the stars and over bushland below.

There’s even an outdoor spa under the stars.

There is also a 25m solar heated saltwater pool with a new Bali hut decked out in LED lights, and even a separate one-bedroom self-contained cottage for friends and family who are sure to seek an invitation to stay.

The wedding chapel has been converted into an artist’s studio.

A former chapel on the grounds has been transformed into an inviting office space or artist’s studio, with dramatic high raked ceilings and glass walls.

The kitchen has been elegantly renovated in French provincial style, while beautiful stained glass windows in the lounge room allow light to bounce off polished timber floors.

Marketing agent Terrilee Whitsed, of Terrilee Whitsed Boutique Realty, said potential buyers were clamouring to view the property ahead of saying,

“I do” at next month’s auction.

“It is such a unique property, and it is definitely attracting a lot of attention as far as inquiries go,” Ms Whitsed said.

“You are in your own little sanctuary away from everyone on the fringes of the hinterland yet without being too far out, so there is the convenience of still being within proximity of Mudgeeraba, Worongary and Robina.”

A new Bali hut has been added to the pool.

Ms Morgan said she was downsizing after her two adult sons had moved out.

The home will be auctioned on February 6.
