Tom Holland Thought He’d Be Fired As Spider-Man After ‘Captain America: Civil War’
Tom Holland confessed that he thought he’d be fired from his role as Spider-Man after his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War.
Although he’s currently filming his third solo outing as Spider-Man, Peter Parker star Tom Holland recently revealed that he initially thought he’d be fired from the role. During an interview with Get Out and Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Holland explained that in the weeks after filming Captain America: Civil War, he expected to be told by Marvel Studios and Sony that he’d been let go from the role.
Tom Holland explained that in the gap between finishing his work on the Captain America sequel all the way up until Spider-Man: Homecoming, he was convinced he was going to be fired because he “didn’t hear anything from anyone.’’ Obviously, that wasn’t the case and Holland has gone on to star in five Marvel movies in total before reprising his role as Peter Parker in this year’s Spider-Man 3, which is rumored to see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield return to also play their respective Spider-Men. Take a look at Holland explaining why he thought he’d lose the role below.
“From the moment of shooting Civil War to Spider-Man: Homecoming, I was convinced they were going to fire me. I don’t know why. Civil War hadn’t come out yet, and I just didn’t hear anything from anyone. I can’t really explain it. It was awful, but they didn’t — obviously. It’s been crazy, mate. I’ve loved every minute of it.”
