Dance the night away in mansion’s private disco and pavilion

640 Nerang Broadbeach Road, Carrara, was one of the most-viewed homes in Australia last week.

When Dennis Perry used to waterski on the Nerang River at Carrara, he always dreamed of owning one of the waterfront mansions he would admire along its banks as he zipped on by.

Fast-forward almost 30 years and his dreams became reality when Dennis and his wife Angela bought a block along the private stretch of Nerang Broadbeach Rd.

The pavilion fronts the full size tennis court.

The block was originally occupied by a large family home across two titles. The Perrys purchased one of the lots and set about knocking down the existing house to construct a dream home of their own.

And what a job they have done.

Anyone for a dip?

Built for comfort and entertaining, the home is situated at the back of a long, 3,860sq m block and would attract the envy of any passer-by – that is, if they could see it.

The house, which also fronts a busy road, has been specifically designed for peace and privacy.

Teppankayi and barbecue area.

Enter from the road and you have to drive past a tennis court and recreation room (more on that later) before reaching the main house, while the terraced backyard has a pool, deck area and expansive lawn between the house and the water.

The house is tranquil and relaxing.

On the opposite riverbank is nothing but parklands.

Designed by Jarod Poole and built by Koryzma Constructions, the house has won several Master Builder awards, including House of the Year in 2019.

The house has several features walls.

The main home has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, a large kitchen and butler’s pantry along with multiple living areas. High-end contemporary fixtures and finishes give the house a luxury feel while remaining practical and functional, which Angela said was an essential.

“We wanted people to be able to come in and feel comfortable and relaxed,” she said.

It has a pontoon and Nerang River frontage.

For all its favourable features, the ultimate draw of this property has to be the recreation room.

Overlooking the champion-size tennis court, the entertaining precinct has a bar, kitchen, bathroom, wine cellar, pool table, sitting area, three TVs, a poker table, high bar, and is equipped with full disco lights.

Angela said it can comfortably accommodate up to 100 guests.

“It was very intentional to create the rec space away from the main house,” Angela said.

“We’re in our fifties and let’s face it, 50-year-olds don’t go to nightclubs anymore, but we still like to have fun. We’ve had so many parties and good times out there.

Don’t forget the wine cellar.

Plenty of room for guests to sit.

“We also have two adult children still living at home, so we wanted to give them a safe place to hang out where they feel like they have their independence.”

There is certainly room to move in this sprawling property, which Angela said is the thing the family will miss the most.

“I think we’ve taken the space for granted,” she said.

“The next place won’t have this much but I don’t think we’ll realise how much we miss it until it’s gone.”

The property at 640 Nerang Broadbeach Rd, Cararra, is on the market through Michael Kollosche of Kollosche for $12.95 million.

Interest in the property has been high with the home being the third-most viewed property in the country and the second-most viewed in the state last week on realestate.com.au.
