Buyers still keen on Mick Doohan’s Diamondhead estate
AUSSIE motorcycling Mick Doohan’s Diamond Head estate is still clocking up a record number of inquiries from potential buyers, despite being on the market for six months.
The 18ha estate with panoramic views and huge river frontage, has a lavish mega mansion at its heart which has been rented by the likes of Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp.
It hit the market in April through Ray White and was open to expressions of interest.
While there were a couple of offers on it, the property wasn’t sold.

Diamond Head is now being given a fresh push under the auspices of marketing agents Amir Mian and Antonio Contreras of Amir Prestige and it appears that there is still plenty of interest in the estate.
Mr Contreras said that within six hours of launching their marketing campaign, they had more than 620 inquiries from as far afield as the US, England and South Africa as well as around Australia, and conducted four inspections within the first days.
“It would normally take six weeks to get that number of inquiries on a property,” he said.
Mr Contreras said timing was everything and with the borders about to reopen, it would allow more buyers to carry out inspections.
At the time it first hit the market there was speculation that the estate, which Mr Doohan bought for $1.7m in 1996, could generate a record sale for a residential property on the Gold Coast.
The record is currently held by 41-45 The Promenade in the central Coast suburb of Isle of Capri, which sold last year for $27m.
Mr Mian said that a change in Mr Doohan’s circumstances meant that he was now spending more time overseas and so he was highly motivated to sell.
“It’s such a unique property with 600m of river frontage and you can see all the way to Broadbeach,” he said.
Mr Mian said it immense opportunities for a private buyer or investor, with the potential turn it into a resort or holiday destination.
“It offers the whole package,” Mr Mian said.
The sprawling estate has been in and out of the international spotlight over the years.
In 2015 it became the centre of a legal battle between actor Johnny Depp and his then wife Amber Heard. It was alleged that an enraged Mr Depp caused a damage bill of more than $200,000 after they got into an argument.
The couple were renting the estate while Mr Depp was in Australia filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The property has ten bedrooms, five with en suites and an array of added features such as a 500sq m man cave with a bar, 20m wet edge pool, large shed with four offices, a helicopter landing pad, go-kart track, two-bedroom caretakers cottage and a three-bedroom guest house.
