In the wake of the Wallabies memorable win against South Africa and Quade Cooper set to become an Aussie, a former player’s home has hit the market.

Bob Outterside, who is described as a “highly consistent tough defending No. 8” back in the 1950s on the Classic Wallabies website, has his Judge St, Randwick Californian bungalow of 60 years listed with Angus Gorrie of Ray White Eastern Beaches.

Massive price hike on eastern beaches

It’s scheduled for a October 2 auction with a $3.3m guide and Gorrie already has good interest from young families.

“It’s a good solid freestanding house for the price of a semi, which people love,” Gorrie said.

The kitchen is huge.

Outterside is understood to have purchased the three-bedroom “1920s family classic” on a 362sqm block in 1961 in an off-market deal with a rugby mate.

Historical documents don’t reveal the transaction occurred let alone indicate a price.

The last record of it trading was in 1925 when Ruby Gertrude Kahl, wife of Heinrich Conrad Kahl of Sydney Tailor, bought the home from the builder, Walter Bartrop, for 1,750 pounds.

Outterside and his late wife, Dawn, raised their family at the property and away from football, he was a successful teacher and school administrator, rising to become principal of Sydney Boys High School.

In 1990, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for service to education.

The house is set back on a deep-dual access block with bright and breezy interiors and elevated views to the ocean.

There’s the potential, subject to council approval, to add a level to capitalise on the location.
