Peter Overton and Jessica Rowe sell Vaucluse home for $8,175,000 at online auction

Channel Nine newsreader Peter Overton and his journalist wife Jessica Rowe have sold their Vaucluse home for a massive price in an exciting online auction contest tonight.
Ray White Double Bay principal Elliott Placks and James Keenan had been guiding $7m for the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home with double garage on 700sqm, which is close by Vaucluse village and the harbour foreshore.
Having received strong interest, the agents upped the guide to $7.7m prior to the auction.
But tonight, Keenan, who was the auctioneer, slammed down the gavel at $8,175,000, an incredible $1,175,000 above the original price guide.

Keenan had called the property onto the market at $7,610,000.
Bidding had opened at $7.5m and there’d been three active bidders.
The bids had come in slowly at first, with $10,000 and $40,000 offers.
But the pace quickened as the auction progressed and there were also some big increments. One of the bidders didn’t enter the race until $7.7m.
At that point, the opening bidder came back with a $100,000 knockout bid attempt.

The late bidder came back with another $100k, which took it to $7.9m.
The pair then swapped a series of $50k bids to $8.1m, and then 25s all the way to $8,175,000. It was the opening bidder who won the keys.
Keenan had called for an opening bid at 6.05pm and it was all over at 6.18.
The result is a big price for the couple, who are trading up to a larger five-bedroom home in the same suburb with their daughters, Allegra, 14, and Giselle, 12.
They’d bought the two-storey home, with formal and informal living areas and a pool, for $3.37m 12 years ago, and done a big renovation as well as a series of smaller updates.
