Collingwood Foy & Gibson warehouse conversion for sale
A warehouse apartment in Collingwood’s heritage-listed Foy & Gibson building has a rich history that sets it apart from other industrial-style pads on the market.
Belle Property Carlton & Melbourne principal director Scott McElroy said “warehouse conversion” was thrown around a lot, but 13/170 Oxford St was “the genuine article”.
“When something’s got 3m ceilings and a bit of red brick it’s (called) a warehouse, but that’s not always true,” Mr McElroy said.

The spacious three-bedroom, two-bathroom pad on the market for $1.45m-$1.55m was built above the former factory and warehouse complex established by the Foy & Gibson department store empire – and is one of only 14 in the building.
“This street is probably one of the best examples of warehouses apartments in the whole city,” Mr McElroy said.
“It’s a very special part of Melbourne.”
He also likened the precinct to New York’s famous SoHo and Meatpacking districts, with plenty of trendy cafes, breweries and eateries nearby.

The top-floor home features an “expansive open-plan living room” with space to entertain in the central kitchen, in addition to a large and private terrace balcony.
Timber floors, high ceilings and wide windows also allow for natural light.
“The bedrooms are all great sizes – a lot of three-bedroom apartments you find, they are all on top of each other,” Mr McElroy added.
“Whereas here everything is in its right place, it’s a really good layout.”
He said downsizers who had recently snapped up a lifestyle property were already circling the listing as a potential city base.
