Ingredients and Variations
BASE Use full-fat mayonnaise in this recipe for the best flavor. Greek yogurt can be switched out for the sour cream.
GARLIC Finely minced fresh cloves of garlic are best in this recipe. Garlic cloves can vary in size so start with one and add more to your liking.
For a more subtle garlic flavor, swap out the garlic for garlic powder or make roasted garlic which is a bit sweeter and not quite as bold.
FLAVORING A hint of onion powder and some fresh herbs round out the flavors. If you don’t have onion powder, a little bit of minced green onion will work.
To make creamy garlic dressing, whisk all of the ingredients together (per the recipe below). Pour dressing into a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid and chill for at least one hour.
Tips
- Keep creamy dressings in the fridge for up to a week (or a little bit longer if your sour cream is really fresh).
- Shake the cruet or mason jar vigorously before using it again.
- Swap out the vinegar for lemon juice to change the flavor slightly.
- For a thinner dressing, add a bit of milk or buttermilk.
This dressing is great on spinach salad, romaine lettuce, or a tossed salad.
