Sugarcane fields, river frame Australia’s hottest house

29 Doyles Road, Balnagowan, is open for negotiation.

The hottest house in Australia right now is so quintessentially Queensland there are fields of sugarcane as far as the eye can see – with 24 car parks to boot.

The latest data of the most viewed homes for sale in the country on realestate.com.au put a waterfront trophy home that sits between the Pioneer River and wide expanses of sugarcane fields at the top of the nation last week.

The multi-house property has massive river frontage.

The entrance hall is almost hotel like.

Instead of a Queenslander that one might expect so close to farmland, this is a picture of a modern luxury home that would not be out of place in any capital city bluechip suburb – with a massive 2.4ha in its arsenal.

Located at 29 Doyles Road, Balnagowan, in Mackay, the region has benefited from past mining booms as a base for hordes of drive in, drive out and fly in, fly out workers.

A quiet spot by the water on the edge of the property.

Huge space in the major living zone.

The property has been on the market for almost two weeks and is for sale by negotiation according to agent Tina Sander of Harcourts Coastal Broadbeach.

The parking situation is above and beyond normal, with a four-bay garage, four bay block rendered shed and a 12 x 20 x 5 metre Colorbond shed with 4.2m clearance.

Multiple parking options for big and small vehicles.

Enough space to park a huge number of visitors.

“The array of shed and garage space at this property offers an abundant amount of parking, storage, living and business opportunities,” was how Ms Sander described it. She has it listed as “North Queensland luxury waterfront living at its absolute best”.

What a spot to catch the evening light.

Ready for hot tropical days.

No extravagance was spared in its design, from a 5.6m void as you enter, to a Travertine tiled front entry, large stone feature wall, double sided fireplace and stunning cantilevered staircase. There’s a 12m fibreglass chlorinated saltwater pool, multiple living areas, a bar room, kids retreat, office, and all bedrooms have walk in robes.

The scale is plus-sized in the galley kitchen too, with a 1.2 x 4 metre granite island bench and “an immense walk-in-pantry”.

No expense spared kitting out the kitchen.

The bar set up for a party.

There’s a separate studio complete with wet bar and games room, a master retreat in the main home with a standalone bathtub positioned to take in the view, and the property has 150,000L of rain water tanks, a bore, 6.5KW of solar panels and three-phase power.

The property beat an array of multimillion-dollar properties including mansions in Sydney and Melbourne to claim top spot as the most viewed home in the country last week on realestate.com.au.
