Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Casino Walkthrough
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is the only Las Vegas casino resort that doesn’t charge resort fees, gives you free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel including in your room, and has free self-parking. The hotel celebrated its soft grand opening on Thursday.
I stayed on opening night in Canyon Deluxe Grand Chamber King Suite. Stay tuned for that review. Because this was a short stay, I skipped the road trip and flew Frontier Airlines to Vegas for $38 roundtrip!
The Hard Rock Hotel, bought by the Virgin Group in March 2018 for $500 million has been remade into the desert oasis-themed Virgin Hotel Las Vegas.
You can stay in one of 1,504 rooms spread out across the resort in three sections: the Canyon Tower, Opal Tower, and the all-suite Ruby Tower.
Pro-tip: Ruby Tower guests have a private check-in area and dedicated valet.
There was a lot of controversy about their outside food and beverage policy. But Virgin has changed their stance. You can bring your own food and beverage.
Virgin Las Vegas is perfect if you want a more boutique Las Vegas casino resort experience, similar to the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, NoMad, and Delano.
First Tribal Casino in Las Vegas
Mohegan Sun Gaming runs the 60,000 square foot casino, the first tribal casino in Las Vegas. Hopefully not the last.
The casino offers 50 table games, 650 slots, a Betfred sportsbook, and separates High Limit Slots and High Limit Table games.
Pro-tip: An exclusive gaming room on the 16th floor will cater to Virgin’s special guests. The tower location hasn’t been identified but one would assume it will be in the Ruby Tower.
It was packed on opening night with long lines of excited gamblers waiting to get their Mohegan Sun Momentum players cards.
Still Under Construction
The majority of the resort was open. But several key areas are still under construction:
- Many of the rooms
- The 5-acre pool complex
- Dayclub
- The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, the former Joint
- 24 Oxford
- Kassi Beach House
- Money Baby sports bar and restaurant

Conclusion
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is open. The no resort fee hotel offers free Wi-Fi to all guests and has the first tribal run casino in Las Vegas.
Most of the resort was complete on opening day. But some areas haven’t been finished. If the pool is a must, plan on a late spring, early summer stay.
Stay tuned for my review of a Canyon Deluxe Grand Chamber King suite.
