The bargain island escape off Townsville in desperate need of a reno rescue

But there is a catch. A big one. It needs some work. A lot of work.

An entire QLD island for the price of a Sydney home? Seriously!
Located at Lot 151 Cockle Bay Drive, the 1.3 acre property is at Cockle Bay on Magnetic Island, and has sea views across to Townsville’s iconic Castle Hill.
Cockle Bay is home to vacant land, mostly owned by the state government, and a few private homes, according to RP Data.
Access is via a dirt road or boat, making it the ultimate escape from the rat race.
It is also a short paddle through the calm blue waters to the historic SS City of Adelaide shipwreck, a passenger steam ship that launched from Scotland in 1863, was later converted into a cargo transport ship and then was gutted by fire in 1912 before being run aground at Cockle Bay in 1913.
Today, the “Insta-famous” shipwreck is still visible but has been reclaimed by mangroves and sealife, making it a popular photo spot for social media influencers and tourists.
