Making McDonalds Style Chicken Nuggets at home

There is something entirely satisfying about biting into a clean, crisp chicken nugget with a juicy center. Perhaps it is the unmistakable crunch you hear upon every munch. Or maybe it’s in knowing that you still have a couple more on your plate to stuff into your mouth. Unlike pure chicken parts with which you adjust around the bone, the meat is simply laid out for you to eat. And it is prepped with the most flavorful seasonings to boot!

But we won’t be making just any recipe of chicken nuggets here. Arguably one of the most popular and well-loved of its kind, McDonald’s nuggets have a distinct savor and thin crispiness to them that make them a little more tempting to drab on the drive thru. However, they can also be tried out at home, fresh out of your own kitchen!

Follow these steps to fry your own chicken nuggets, McDonalds style!

Let’s start off by making our barbecue sauce to match the crispy, golden nuggets:
For the sauce, you will be needing ½ cup of tomato ketchup, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Put these all together in a saucepan, and then heat it, letting it simmer for 2 minutes. Stir them together then turn off your heat. After you’ve let your ingredients cool, you’re all good to go with your thick, savory barbecue sauce.

Time to make our chicken nuggets:
Grab 1 lb of boneless chicken breasts. And then cut these up into cubes so they could easily be broken down in our food processor. Then alongside 1 piece of Knorr Chicken Cube, 1 teaspoon of granulated white sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt, place your chicken inside a food processor. Process all of your ingredients until a paste-like texture is formed.

Now we will get to making our batter by placing 1 cup of water, 1 egg, ¾ cup of all-purpose flour, ¼ cup of cornstarch, 1 teaspoon of ground white pepper, and 1 teaspoon of onion powder into a bowl. Mix these all together, then set them aside because we’re going to prepare our kitchen for some deep frying action!

Let your oil heat to 350 °F then bring your chicken mixture from earlier out. Measuring to around 1 tablespoon, scoop these up and mold into the shape of a nugget. If you’d like a flatter top to your chicken nuggets, you can try covering this with parchment paper. Afterwards, you can slice them up into individual pieces with shapes of your preference.

Putting the components of our chicken together with the batter:
Then dredge these in ¾ cup of cornstarch, and proceed to dip them in your batter. Before placing them in the deep fryer, make sure to let the excess liquid drip. Then deep-fry your nuggets until they become a beautiful golden brown. Take these from the cooking pot. Then put them on your plate that’s lined with paper towels to take some of the excess oil out.

And then we can put everything together by pouring our barbecue sauce into the container of choice. Then serve it beside your crunchy, juicy chicken nuggets!

You’ll definitely get bite after bite of irresistible crisp with these McDonalds Style Chicken Nuggets. But if you’re looking for some other recipes with the similar crunch and juicy white meat, I have a couple of tried and tested suggestions!

Homemade Chicken Nuggets
If you are looking to skip the deep frying process, which soaks up a great deal of oil, I have a recipe involving baking your nuggets instead! Try these Homemade Chicken Nuggets for a refreshing change to your crispy chicken. This simple but appetizing recipe utilizes the rich flavors of buttermilk and lemon to marinade your chicken nuggets, and with less of the grease. And even if this does not make use of processed meat, you will still be able to retain a one of a kind tenderness to the inside of your chicken.

Sweet and Sour Chicken Nuggets
While barbecue sauce is a guaranteed match to them, chicken nuggets could still benefit from a bit of a tangy twist! These Sweet and Sour Chicken Nuggets take advantage of the mild flavor and juicy interior of the meat to meld well with thick, orange sauce with a sharper, delectable taste. This dish essentially puts together two classic recipes– the prior mentioned baked chicken nuggets, and this Easy Sweet and Sour Sauce. And the result is a distinct approach to crispy chicken, and made even more exciting to the taste buds!

Kalabasa and Corned Beef Nuggets
Not into white meat all that much? That shouldn’t be a problem, especially if you’d like an exceptional mix of unique flavors in your nuggets! My Kalabasa and Corned Beef Nuggets recipe makes use of soft butternut squash, meaty corned beef, garlic powder and bread crumbs for a new variation to your regular nuggets. But one of the best parts about this dish is its flexibility. Feel free to switch out some of the ingredients for complementary substitutes! You even have the option of making this an entirely vegetarian recipe by replacing the corned beef with other vegetables.
