Rapper Nelly’s crumbling US mansion hits the market for less than $800k
The Hot in Herre singer reportedly bought the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom, 1000sqm home in rural Wildwood, Missouri almost 20 years ago.
According to entertainment news site TMZ, the hip-hop star, who hails from Texas, had planned to “remodel it and flip it with a contractor friend, but those plans never panned out, so it’s been sitting empty for years.”
The site reported the 46-year-old rapper now “just wants out”, so he’s put the place up for sale for the not-so-blingy price of $AUD769,000.
The two-storey, Tuscan-style home, once worth $AUD3.2 million, is set on about five hectares, half an hour west of the city of St Louis, which is famous for beer, baseball and blues.
Built in 1994, the imposing property has views of the pretty Meramec River valley from its many balconies and is just a few minutes from Hidden Valley ski resort.
While the property listing on realtor.com highlights a “grand entranceway and open floor plan with sky-high ceilings” as key selling features, the mansion also gives off distinctly late-1990s design vibes, thanks to rows of glass bricks in some bathrooms, retail-style “show-off” shelving elsewhere and countless bulky columns.

Some renovation work has been done inside, with new flooring laid in some areas, but other rooms are blank canvases, complete with exposed slab.

In a slightly concerning note, the home was burgled in 2009, when video games and various pieces of electronic equipment were stolen.
