‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Bella Ramsey Cast As Ellie In ‘Last Of Us’ Series
Mahershala Ali is also not involved with the project despite rumors.
Game of Thrones star Bella Ramsey has been cast as Ellie for HBO’s highly-anticipated Last of Us series.
The Last of Us series is ramping up production and with that, several casting rumors have been floating around the internet as of late. The hot rumor was that HBO was eyeing Mahershala Ali to play Joel, but that rumor has now been shot down by The Hollywood Reporter. However, The Last of Us series has found its Ellie with Game of Thrones actress Bella Ramsey set to star in the video game adaptation.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Bella Ramsey will be taking on the role of Ellie for the Last of Us series headed by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin. Ramsey notably appeared on Game of Thrones as the savage Lyanna Mormont. The upcoming video game series was recently ordered by HBO straight to series and Kantemir Balagov is on board to direct the pilot.

The Last of Us centers on the relationship between a smuggler named Joel and 14-year-old Ellie, the latter of whom may be the key to curing the deadly pandemic that resulted in the post-apocalypse world of the game. Hired to smuggle Ellie out of a quarantine zone, Joel finds himself relying on the teenage girl just as much as she relies on him as they fight to survive on their journey across the United States. The HBO adaptation will cover the events of the first game, with the second game potentially surviving as the basis for additional content.
